About Us
Anamars (Anabelles and Marks) Eco-Tours, was founded by Anabelle Solano and Mark Shultz in 1999. We started as a small Sustainable Eco Tourism Spot here on the beach in Manuel Antonio.We meet in 1996 on the beach while Mark, the Director of the Surf Program for the Costa Rica Outward Bound School was giving surfing lessons and Anabelle was vacationing. At the time she was working for the Social Security Department in San Jose after graduating from the University of Costa Rica in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Eco-Tourisim. When we meet our dream set sail. Mark built the beach house for a "Gentle Man" by the name of Art Lockard, who passed away in 2008 and will be GREATLY missed by both friends and family. He and Mark had become great friends through an organization of Non Drinkers in 1994 here in Costa Rica. In 1998 Anabelle and Mark became the Managing Partners for what was then named the Casa Arturo(Arts House)and known locally as Anamars beach house.In 2000 we Anabelle and Mark, went to her Aunt Nellys 69th birthday party on their Coffee Plantation in Turrialba Costa Rica.They lived in a tin house, with a wood burning stove, No electricity,No running water,and an outhouse. It was literally,a trip back in time. We walked to the top of their mountain after lunch and when we saw the Majestic Panoramic view, Bella Vista Ranch was born.We together with her family, who all live in that area,built all the structures, turned the Coffee over to an Organic Plantation,planted Botanical Gardens,and our Mountain Retreat was open for business. Since Mark had been doing tours all over Costa Rica for C.R.O.B.S., he new the country very well and Anabelle had connections in the Eco-Tourism Industry from her college days, we started doing beach mountain tours by linking our beach house to our ranch and vice versa. People were so in awe that in a 7 day period they could get the best of both worlds, beach and mountains, with spectacular wild life and fauna. Without even knowing it we had created a Sustainable Eco Tour Company and people started calling us Anamars Tours, here in Costa Rica.We of course new nothing of the terminology sustainable tourism we were just trying to feed ourselves and family. And as it is today! We still have that same mind set here at Anamars Eco - Tours. What we want is for our guests to leave Costa Rica knowing the true meaning of our Country's most famous saying "Pura Vida" (pure life). We of course have to make money to pay for help, food and general daily expenses. But our "True goal" is to give you our guests all your moneys worth and then some.We have, over the past ten years set up everything from Weddings, Surf Tours, Sports Fishing Quepos, Hiking and Trekking Tours, Mountain Bike Tours, Land Rover Tours, Motor Cycle Tours, River Rafting and Kayak Tours, Rain Forest Excursions, Volcano Treks, Zip lines through the canopy and just relaxing on the beach or on the deck of the log house up on the ranch.Now you should see our (Activities)!If you have heard of Costa Rica and are thinking of a trip here to our beautiful little Country and want something personal for you and yours then we feel Anamars Eco-Tours will be the right choice for you!
