Anamars Real Deal Surf Camp For those who want to have fun while learning!
I conversed with Anabelle and other close friends over the thought of doing a Surf Camp. For years now I have not given surf lessons on aregular basis, only exclusively for guests here at Anamars beach house. My reason for this was not to have a conflict with my way of life (that of a true surfer living the life). Now many of my close friends ask why get into this, as it may take away from the life I have come to love and live and breathe! As you may have read in our About Us page, I was the Director of the Surf Program for the Costa Rica Outward Bound School in the Early 90's. So why go there again? Well that is a great question! This is the answer. I am currently writing a book on my life as it has evolved to date. Through this process, I have come to recon how much I miss the contact, the sharing of my knowledge on Life and Surfing and the true art of the sport and it’s history. Surfing can help shape the life of those to come, to be better human beings not just surfers. Now that I have adult children and grandchildren, I know how important they are to the future of this world. I also know how important they are to you parents! This is why we are offering specialty surf lessons along with our loving care and support to you and your precious children! We want your children to learn to surf, yes of course, or surf better than they already do but also learn a different culture, a different language, the ways of the ocean and what it means to save it, and how to get along with others to help make our world a better place as we all surf the wave of life into the new millennium. I know full well how hard it is to turn children over to strangers for a period of time, let alone in another country! We welcome all questions.

So, as you can now start to get a feel of why we call it the real deal surf camp! It is not, and we will not let it be, just a hang out in the hammock, push you into the wave, or wait until the surf comes up surf camp. We want our students to learn and have a life time experience. Our 10 day minimum course, has a two student minimum per course. I have found it is best if they come with a fellow surf companionfrom their area, but that is not necessary, just a "recommendation" from my years of surf tours. It always seemed better with a friend to share the experience.
We have a 6 student max, to be able to dedicate quality time to each student as they are here at the camp. They will receive two good meals per day, a breakfast and a dinner. They will be responsible to help with cooking and cleaning for both meals, and for preparing their own lunches. The studentswill stay at thebeach house for the entire time while at the camp. We may make short surf trips to other breaks in the area but, we will sleep every night at the beach house. The beach house has wireless internet so they can Skype with an Ipod or notebook every day if they want. We pick students up at the airport in San Jose and take them back.
The Surf Camp Package is as follows: 4 to 6 people for one week. 5 days lessons, breakfast / dinner, lodging, transportation, Plus all of the A, B, C's, of the course, as shown above. All for $ 800.00 per person. Reduced fees for longer stays depend on the next group size and availability. We can supply all beginner boards such as long boards or Malibu fun boards, if students do not want to bring theirs with them. These can be a hassle to travel with. If using short boards it is best to bring them as well as ding repair kits. Courses run from June 10 until September 10, as that is our surf season here in Manuel Antonio! Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope you understand what we here at Anamars Real Deal Surfing Camp are all about! And we hope to hear from you soon. Peace and Pura Vida ( pure life)

I am glad to recommend your Surf Camp. Marcus, you and Annabelle transformed me and my three kids ( ages 16,14 and 9 ) from beginner surfers to a family that LOVES to surf and now are comfortable paddling out to many different breaks.... even some with some size!!
My son ( 15 at the time ) and I returned to Manuel Antonio with my father and stayed in the Beach House for a week. We surfed every day with Marcus, learned a lot and found some new breaks thanks to Marcus' "local knowledge". The house was great and the company was even better! Chuck
